So day two doesn’t go so well. Day one wasn’t bad. We just flew in, unpacked a few things, stopped by the Apple store to look at the front runner in our search for cell phones, and on the way home we stop by the market to pick up a few fresh ingredients for dinner. I whip up a simple spaghetti with garlic, onions, and cherry tomatoes with olive oil and some fresh mixed greens with orange segments, olive oil and balsamic vinegar…nothing fancy, but the hubby seemed pretty happy. Parisian Housewife - day one, a  success.

I guess I was still suffering from jet lag. I fell asleep around midnight, and woke up around 4am and could not go back to sleep. I was awake when Brandon got up to get ready for work, shared a yogurt with him, then wished him a good day at work when he left. I sat on the couch and flipped through a magazine and started feeling sleepy…just a quick nap before I really start my day…uh, 8 hours later, I was ready to, uh, start my day. Sigh. Jet lag-1, good housewife-0.

Well, still was able to cross one thing off my ever important to-do list: make dinner.  So I ventured outside in the drizzle to pick up a baguette and some groceries.

Here is the boulangerie just down the street from our apartment. Very delicious baguettes, but all the baguettes in Paris are delicious…

Waiting in line to purchase my baguette for dinner.

Only 0.90 euro cents!

Couldn’t make it the one block home without munching on it. Its so mmm, mmm, good.

So since I have nothing exciting to write about, I took photos of what I made for dinner.

Uh, chicken parmigiana…sort of. But couldn’t find breadcrumbs or pamesan cheese at the market, so it was just fried chicken with mozzarella.

Prepare egg wash and flour. You usually need to pound out your chicken breast to get it thin, but I was able to buy one that was already pounded thin. Season chicken.

Coat chicken in egg wash.

Then dredge in flour.

Pan fry.

On to the sauce…So the can opener didn’t work, so I had to use it to puncture holes around the can in order to open it. Ha! Ha! Parisian Housewife-1, can opener-0.

I asked Brandon to buy some crushed tomatoes, but he got a can of tomato concentrate instead. Honest mistake, looked like a can of tomatoes to me. Anyway, gotta work with what you’ve got. I sauteed some garlic and onions.

Then I added my tomato concentrate with some water to make a sauce.

Next, threw in my spaghetti leftovers from the night before to reheat.

Topped the chicken with slices of mozzarella and threw it under the broiler to melt. Tossed the pasta next to the chicken topped with the remaining tomato sauce, and voila, dinner is served.

Nothing fancy, but got the job done. As Jamie Oliver would say, easy peasy! So I got dinner on the table. Day 2 as a housewife was not all a loss.

Not a bad profession…get my first day off after just two days of housewife duties. Some of Brandon’s colleagues want to have dinner tomorrow night…so I get the night off. :D A night out means better food pictures to come. Stay tuned…Oink! Oink!
