Nice is nice.
Bonjour. So over the weekend we took the overnight train to Nice (Not recommended. If you thought trying to sleep on an airplane was bad, think again). At least we had a nice view in the morning…
Place Massena And what everyone comes for… I can’t understand how people lay out on these rocks… Then off to Old Town for some socca bread at Rene Socca Socca bread - made...
Birthdays and Bento Boxes
Hello. Just a quick update today.
So last Thursday we got together with a few friends to celebrate Kim’s belated birthday dinner at Ma Salle a Manger. Kim saw me snapping photos and knew that they would all end up as apiggyinparis blog fodder…so I can’t disappoint. Seeing as my blog is so widely read and all…uh, yeah. :D
Kim, the birthday boy and his lovely wife Sudhir,...
We were Hungary so we went to Budapest...
Bah dum bum. Hello? Hello? Is this thing on?
So last weekend Brandon and I were fortunate enough to travel to Budapest. We stayed at the wonderful Hotel Andrassy. If you’re ever in Budapest and need a place to stay…we highly recommend it.
We were excited to hear from one of Brandon’s co-workers that there would be a food festival going on the weekend we were in Budapest. We...
A Moment at Monet's
Bonjour. So a couple weeks ago we went to Giverny to visit Claude Monet’s home and gardens. Quite beautiful. At the risk of sounding cheesy…it was like stepping into one of his paintings. Enjoy.
The house in the back.
Look familiar? :D Before we left for Giverny, we stopped by the Champs Elysees. There was some sort of eco-something-green event (as you can see I was...

Milan & Lake Como
Trying to find easier ways to post pictures from our trips. So here’s a slide show of our trip to Milan and Lake Como. There’s also some video footage in hopes that you guys can experience the great views and sights. Brandon calls it my 360 move. :D
So we flew into Milan and enjoyed the sights & food. Milan has this great food culture called aperitivo. Local bar/restaurants offer a ...
Tiny Bubbles...
Hello. I know, its been two weeks, but I was going around trying to snap some interesting photos for you guys to see.
So two weekends ago we took a day trip to Epernay to taste a little bubbly (my favorite). We took a stroll down Avenue de Chmapagne, where underneath the street, millions of bottles of champagne are stored in chalk cellars.
We took our first champagne tour at Moët et Chandon....
Amsterdam
*tap*tap*feedback…Uhhh, Hello? Hello? Is this thing on?
For the two of you that were following my blog, I apologize for not updating. I have no excuses. I am just lazy.
So before I got to take a little trip back “home” to the U.S. (I use the term home loosely, as I have no actual home in the U.S. to go home to) Brandon and I took our first trip out of Paris to Amsterdam. We...

Stay-cation in Paris - Continued
So here are the photos from the iPhone…
Yesterday we rented bikes and roamed around the city. First we biked over to the Marais area and met a friend for lunch at Glou (another Zagat pick…we’re lovin it Cass).
Brandon had white fish in a white sauce with butter, onions and veggies.
Katelyn and I had the pig cheek with potatoes & mushrooms. Robust and earthy…yum!

Stay-cation in Paris
So after much debate on how to spend Brandon’s first paid holiday off from work, we decided to have a stay-cation in Paris. We had a wonderful three-day weekend.
Saturday started out with a walk around our neighborhood farmer’s market.
mmmm…
heavenly stinkiness…
Then it was off to lunch. A place that I found in the Zagat guide (thanks Cassie!) that we had...

The Loire Valley
Sorry its taken me so long to update. I started this entry and got discouraged with the daunting task of retouching photos and uploading them. But here it is…
Phew! We made it back in one piece. So we rented a car and yes, it was like riding a bike. Manual car, no problem.
We headed out to the Loire Valley a week ago and two of Brandon’s co-workers joined us.
What’s in the...
The Art of the Cafe
Bonjour mes amis.
So nothing really exciting lately. Should have some interesting stuff this weekend. Brandon and I are renting a car and venturing out into the Loire Valley. I will be doing the driving since its cheaper to get a manual car out here…eek…driving in a foreign country…wish me luck! When I was making the reservation Brandon asked, do you even remember how to drive...
Do you know what they call a Quarter Pounder with...
A Royale with cheese. But B was livin’ large and got the deluxe.
Here’s what we did this past weekend…
Started off the weekend with an all-American lunch at McDonalds. Mmmm…chicken nuggets. We live in Paris and eat at McDonalds. Don’t judge us. At least its inside the Louvre.
And a little stop to our current favorite hang-out spot, the Apple store at the...
Shakespeare in Paris
Bonsoir friends. So I’ve realized that most of my photos have been solely centered around food. But to fully live vicariously through me, you need to see the sights of Paris as well, no? Oui. So I will try to ferret out the road less traveled as well as sights that you would expect to see in Paris.
The hubby and I went out to Saint Michele for a Friday night stroll. There is a super cute,...
Belated birthday dinner.
——- Sunday ——-
Brandon: Where do you want to go for your birthday?
Me: Les Papilles! Oh no! They’re closed on Mondays! <about to cry>
Brandon: I’ll make a reservation for Tuesday, and we can go someplace else.
Me: But I don’t want to go anywhere else!
Brandon: Okaaaay…
——- Tuesday ——-
Brandon: I got us a 10pm...
It was a joyeux anniversaire for moi.
Yup, yesterday was my birthday. Thank you, friends, for all the warm birthday wishes. Really made me miss home, well, not home so much, more all my wonderful friends that I would have been able to make celebrate my birthday with me. Ha! You guys all got off easy this year. ;) I may just throw myself two birthday parties next year just so you’ll have to spend double the time with me to make...
Pari-chi-an town
Oops, getting a little behind on my blogging, aren’t I? It gets tougher and tougher when I don’t have jet lag on my side to keep me awake until morning. Current sleeping hours range anywhere from 2-3am-ish to 10-11am. Not bad. Good progress I would say. So anywho, here’s what went down on Sunday.
Parisian Chinatown. The same Chinatown you would find anywhere else in the world....

La Grande Epicerie & Le Bon Marche
Finally le week end is here and I got to venture out with Brandon. Today’s destination - La Grande Epicerie & Le Bon Marche.
OMG.
Le Grande Epicerie left me speechless…I’m not going to even try to describe it. So hopefully these photos will convey the message. And since a photo is worth a thousand words, here are about 11,000 of them. Enjoy!
Phew!...
Rendez-vous in Paris
Finally! I can bore the two of you with something other than what I made for dinner!
So…we officially had our first visitor in Paris! Drum roll please…
Presenting Luke!
But I’m getting a little ahead of myself. So here’s the score…jet lag-3, housewife-0. I know, I know…c’mon Piggy, you’re in Paris! But, but, before you pass judgment on me…I...

This is what I plan to do with my life when I return home from Paris. Who’s with me?
Parisian Housewife - Day 3
Jet lag-2, good housewife-0. Yes, that’s right, jet lag wins again. Maybe I let him win, but the boss says he gives me a week to get over him, so I have a few more days. Anyway, after another sleepless night the night before, I finally fall asleep around 6am and wake up just long enough for Brandon to say goodbye as he leaves for work. BUT I DO manage to whimper a reminder to him to...
My new profession: Parisian Housewife - Day 2
So day two doesn’t go so well. Day one wasn’t bad. We just flew in, unpacked a few things, stopped by the Apple store to look at the front runner in our search for cell phones, and on the way home we stop by the market to pick up a few fresh ingredients for dinner. I whip up a simple spaghetti with garlic, onions, and cherry tomatoes with olive oil and some fresh mixed greens with...
Flying to Paris...at least it was free.
Ok, so here it is…a blog. My blog. My blog about my year in Paris for all (two) of you that said you would read it. I warned you, its not going to be all that entertaining, but I’ll try my best. Read ‘em and weep…
So Brandon and I arrived to Paris Tuesday morning. The flight from LAX to Chicago was infuriating at best. I finally fall asleep during the flight, and then the...
